OVERVIEW
Instacart’s Policy & Government Affairs department advocates for public policy outcomes that support the long-term growth of our business. We build trust with government policymakers, helping them understand our business and its positive impact on their communities. We help to shape complex, cutting-edge public policy debates that will define the future of work and e-commerce. We engage a diverse coalition of stakeholders and communities to build effective advocacy campaigns that advance our public policy goals.
The Community Affairs Specialist will join the Public Engagement Team, supporting the mission of the Policy & Government Affairs department by building, mobilizing, and measuring public support for Instacart’s policy priorities.
The Community Affairs Specialist (Central) will support and promote Instacart’s Public Engagement and Policy initiatives across the Central region. Specialists will recruit and cultivate stakeholder advocates, plan and host community events, and create cohesive playbooks for long-term grassroots engagement and rapid response mobilizations for Instacart shoppers and community stakeholders.
The preferred location for this position is Atlanta, Chicago or DMV Area
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Leverage grassroots tools to engage the Instacart shopper community to recruit and cultivate advocates for shared policy priorities.
- Work with internal and external partners to facilitate shopper participation in legislative advocacy, hearings, and press opportunities
- Create scalable rapid response and long-term grassroots strategies and tactics (including digital) to mobilize stakeholders on policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels
- Lead on outreach and engagement with local community groups and organizations, including building and maintaining partnerships, scoping sponsorship opportunities and partnering on events to foster long-term relationships
- Successfully plan and execute events that help build strong relationships and promote consistent communication with shoppers and local organizations. Includes partnership roundtables, volunteer events, outreach sessions, meetups and other community events
- Develop and implement strategies and tactics to educate, engage, and mobilize stakeholders that are scalable to multiple markets
- Draft engaging and educational content that inspires action and keeps stakeholders updated and informed
- Track and report progress towards key results and provide written and verbal reports on engagement activity
ABOUT YOU
- 3+ years experience with community outreach, event planning and/or project management. Experience with political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or technology companies a plus
- Strong community advocacy experience including recruiting, developing, and managing stakeholders partnerships
- Track record of producing successful events from conception to execution
- Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, writing, and communications skills
- Can balance long and short-term priorities to deliver results and is comfortable with ever-changing team priorities
- Passionate commitment to finding meaningful ways to build community with individuals and organizations
- Bonus points for experience with operational management including data tracking, reporting and metric analysis, creating newsletters and supporting process and procedure improvements
