About the Role: 

The Assistant Publisher plays a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance and growth of a portfolio of journals within a specific subject area. Responsible for evaluating program performance against Wiley and departmental objectives, the Assistant Publisher ensures continuous content growth by managing submissions, acceptances, and published articles. Building and maintaining a network of scientific editors and board members, they engage regularly to gather feedback and enhance field awareness. Additionally, the Assistant Publisher conducts regular meetings with editors to review key metrics, addressing complex issues when necessary. Managing contractual relationships, setting performance targets, and participating in editor appointments are integral aspects of their responsibilities. The Assistant Publisher reports activities promptly to the Director and Senior Director, contributing significantly to the overall success of the publishing program.

How you will make an impact: 

  • Develop subject area to grow submissions and published output
  • Manage performance of external journal editors calling for support when needed
  • Collaborate closely with Author Delivery team to implement initiatives that drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Build a strong network with external journal editors
