What we are looking for:
A driven and mission focused Sr. Grants Writer who is in agreement with Prison Fellowship’s Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct to write and copy edit the content for grant LOIs, proposals, reports, and other development materials as assigned.
Expectations of this role:
- Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and support the ministry through prayer and actions.
- Compile all components of each submission and ensure that the information is formatted, packaged, and submitted according to granting agency requirements.
- Strategically assign and review proposals, grant reports, and other writing assignments to Prison Fellowship’s contracted grant writer and or other freelance grant writers.
- Collaborate with the editorial team, serve as primary copy editor and quality control for written development materials.
- Regularly review templated proposals and other materials used by the Development team to ensure quality control.
- Regularly engage and collaborate with the major program areas.
- Work with the Director of Development Services to ensure Smartsheets, Salesforce, and dashboards are up to date.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of writing experience with at least 3 years of experience writing and submitting grants for a mid-size or larger nonprofit organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
- Advanced level of skill in Windows, Microsoft Office, and CRMs. Familiarity with Salesforce and Smartsheet.
- Experience using databases for planning and daily tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to write and present persuasively.
- Knowledgeable about philanthropy trends and background of key criminal justice funders ideal.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with high competency in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Experience writing proposals in response to RFPs.
- Grant Professional Certified and experience using AP style preferred.
- Grant writing experience for advocacy organizations or experience in public policy ideal.
- This is a remote/work from home position requiring the ability to travel up to 10%.
